Summary of your bio over past 50 years: After graduating college, I began my own commercial grounds maintenance and snow removal business , which I ran for over 35 years. I got married in 1980 to the girl who Brian Levy set me up on a blind date when I was 19 years old. Debi and I have been happily married for 44 years. Nothing is better than spending time with our 2 kids, their respective spouses, and our amazing 4 grandkids. When we’re not hanging out with the “gang”, I have a very active lifestyle which includes golfing, pickleball, hiking, biking, etc. Traveling the world has become a passion. With our recent trip to Australia, we have just completed visiting all 7 continents (yes, Antarctica included). I’m very much looking forward to our big 50th reunion and catching up with my “old” high school friends!!!

After retiring from accounting, I have worked as a flight attendant for the last 18 years. We live on several acres of woods outside of a small town on Maryland’s eastern shore. I am a proud childless cat lady, currently cohabitating with three cats. I keep busy flying, building airplanes, cooking, quilting, gardening, running an Airbnb and traveling. I work for our union representing flight attendants facing discipline, and serve the community as an Election Judge and a member of the Caroline County Police Accountability Board.

Summary of your bio over past 50 years: Several months after high school I became a Certified Medical Assistant, however I changed my career in 1985 when I began working in my family’s law practice, initially as the Office Administrator, but then ultimately as the firm’s Settlement Resolution Analyst, before finally retiring in 2021, just shy of 36 years. I got married in 1989, had two children, one in 1991 and one in 1995. Unfortunately, and very sad to say, my husband passed away suddenly in 2012, and then almost five years to the day I was diagnosed with breast cancer. I am proud (and blessed) to say I am just celebrating my seven year survivorship. My children are the light of my life, as are their partners. My daughter and son-in-law blessed me with a granddaughter in late 2023, and my son just got engaged and is getting married late in 2025. All “four of my children” are successful in their careers. Even with life’s ups and downs, life is good and I’m thankful for every moment.

My daughter, Carly is a Professor in Chemical Oceanography at Dalhousie University in Halifax, NS, Canada. She followed in my footsteps and did her undergrad and graduate work at MIT. I also now have 8 lovely grandchildren – ages 13 down to 1 year. The 13yo twins celebrated their bat mitzvah last year! After leaving John Hancock in 2005, I quickly landed a spot at Sun Life and worked there for three years as a General Manager and SVP. After I left there, I decided to make a complete career switch. In 2009, I went back to law school, graduating in 2012. I passed the MA bar and I have been working as an Education Attorney since September of 2012. I work for the EdLaw Project which is part of the Massachusetts state public defenders office. I am also the Executive Director of the non-profit Youth Advocacy Foundation (YAF) whose mission is to shut down the school-to-prison pipeline by ensuring that our states most vulnerable youth have access to a quality education and essential community services. I love my Second Act, and when people ask me about retirement, I ask “why?” as I love what I do! Peter and I found our forever retirement spot on a lovely pond in Andover, MA. Many of our friends are becoming snowbirds, but our family is mostly nearby and we couldn’t imagine anywhere else we’d want to be. Can’t wait to see everyone this June!

Summary of your bio over past 50 years: After high school I studied photography for a couple years in California. I left CA and went to the University of NC: Greensboro and got my degree in Speech Pathology and Audiology. I taught the deaf for several years. When not in class, I spent all my time whitewater canoeing, caving, backpacking and rock climbing. I ran a wilderness outfitting store, and also led outdoor adventures for groups on weekends. After a short, failed marriage I returned to MD and went to American University. I received my master’s in education, specializing in learning disabilities. I taught gifted and talented LD kids at a private school for 10 yrs, which I loved!! In 1992, I married the love of my life, Rick. We moved to Illinois for a couple years where our daughter was born. Hannah is now 28, lives in DE and is a computer tech for Best Buy’s Geek Squad. In 1999, we moved to Sandy Hook, CT. I continued teaching in a public high school and became the Special Education Coordinator there. I hated being an administrator and left the job (2008) to go back to the classroom. Unfortunately, the economy fell apart, and I was not able to get a teaching job, so I worked as a private teacher for homeschoolers and started a business selling my homemade biscotti as corporate gifts, to local restaurants, farmer’s markets and online. After 7 years, I had to shut it down due to medical issues. In 2019, we moved back to MD, settling in Olney and I officially retired. I now spend a lot my time with my new passion… throwing stuff on the potter’s wheel. When not at the art studio I am doing volunteer work, bowling, riding my bike, reading and playing mahjong, among other things.
